Neva Sullaway’s love of the Pacific stems from her years diving into its mercurial waters, and the thousands of miles sailing in small cruising yachts across the Pacific Ocean. While living in Sydney, Australia, she became a competitive sailor (Australia’s four-time National Women’s Sailboarding Champion) and covered sailing events nationally and internationally as a photojournalist. After returning to the U.S., Sullaway delved into film and created an award-winning short documentary, Woodcarver (first place, San Francisco International Film Festival).
Publications:
Chasing Dreamtime - A Seagoing Hitchhiker’s Journey through Memory and Myth (multi-award winner, 2005)
Sailing in San Diego - A Pictorial History (for the 1992 America’s Cup in San Diego)
One with the Wind - A Guide to Windsurfing in Australia (1980)
Sullaway created, edited and published more than thirty-five publications for the Maritime Museum of San Diego (2006-2016). She produced Mains’l Haul, the only peer-reviewed academic Journal of Pacific Maritime History in the U.S. As a publishing consultant based in La Jolla, California, Sullaway continues to assist authors in the publishing process.
